I always had a stand on reservations [anti-reservationist bigtym!!] and with my spank bank full of cursing verses I was all set to go overboard criticizing the government on implementing quota system, but finally it seems that Arjun Singh’s touch base has indeed put up a prudent effort to make a pathetic thought transform into a subtly acceptable policy. It was frustrating though to witness all the opposition parties singing the same song when SC finally put the case under the hammer [Dirty Politics …. Paswan even went as far as criticizing the creamy layer thing …..].
Arjun Singh z the new god boys [wz devilsque in my last article on reservations :D] …. Applauds for keeping the existing no of seats as-they-were, and dear kid-brothers n kid-sisters u can still count on taking science as ur major ;). The IITs n IIMs have also been granted hefty sums to extend the infrastructure needed for the addition of seats to accommodate the lucky ones … at least on paper. And I guess the czars at these Ivy league institutes are even counting on [euphemism to “are being lured by “] these grants for personal and institutional benefits [Win- win for both parties :P]. So in a way we can conclude that they intend an increase of seats and these additional seats will be acquired by OBC fellas [much better than the previous thought !! ]. And colleges other than IITs IIMs AIIMS [bole to nichle darje ke colleges] are being given the liberty of choosing the extent to which they can implement reservations in accord to their shradha-bhakti, ofcors the upper bound being 27% .But if the government agrees to aid them for the cause they might catch on the opportunity with both hands. Not to be missed, the creamy layer issue proves to be among the better aspects of the decision.
Some of the immediate repercussions though, are not pleasing everybody … IIMs postponed their results remember… and IIMB is making Xtra calls to OBC’ians to fill the remaining of 27% [Generals!! Feelin J ? ] A major ramification though is the expected postponement of the new IITs that were going to be opened shortly .
Now now ….. all that glitters isn’t gold at all .Castism sure will take a toll thanks to ceasing camaraderie between OBCs and The Others . Secondly, minorities can stand up any given day asking for quota [ hey Raj plz read this …. Note :- I’m a Marathi :D :D]. Plus, ain’t the general counterparts of below-creamy-layer-OBC’s underpriviledged too ? But the big question is, five years later when they will look into the matter , which party will like to reduce the quota [risky business … vote is money they say !] . So there is no possible end to this tale…. Bole to I can foresee that The Others will have an equal say fornever and never….
But still being a gullible guy that I am….. I’ll buy [ gulp down ] the idea … but then after the election, and with a new government, u never know whats in store.
Hope the tale doesn’t take an uglier turn !!
